How Does iTero® Scan Work?
The iTero® scanning process involves the following quick and easy steps:
Patient Preparation
Patients are seated comfortably in the dental chair. Dr. Kohani or his assistant explains the iTero® scan process and addresses any questions or concerns.
Intraoral Scanning
The handheld iTero® wand is then used to capture detailed 3D images of the patient’s teeth, gums, and oral structures. The wand emits a harmless laser light to create a digital impression by capturing numerous images rapidly.
Real-Time Imaging
As the mouth is scanned, the iTero® system instantly processes the images, creating a precise, real-time 3D model on the connected screen, which allows the patient and the dental provider to view the digital impression immediately.
Refinement and Completion
The scan may be adjusted and refined to capture every angle and detail precisely. Once the complete impression is obtained, it’s stored in the system for further analysis, treatment planning, or to create the necessary dental appliances or restorations.
